Optimal book on Optimal Functioning,
From my blog post at [...] that I wrote about this book:
I’m constantly impressed with what my MAPP (Master of Applied Positive Psychology) classmates have been up to since we all graduated scant months ago. Certainly, some of my classmates have drive and tenacity and are seeing their fabulous Capstone projects through to completion, creating high quality and important contributions to the world of positive psychology.
A shout-out goes to Jessica Coleman for her newly-published Kindle book titled Optimal Functioning: A Positive Psychology Handbook. It has the honour of being the first e-book I ever purchased, and I’m so glad. (The first album I ever purchased was Michael Jackson’s Thriller and we all know what a top-seller that turned out to be, so get on the bandwagon now with Jessica’s e-book!!)
Optimal Functioning is a nifty little easy-to-digest handbook with 15 chapters dealing with topics such as flow, strengths, resilience and meditation. Each topic is well-substantiated with references to the original empirical research (the reference list alone is worth the price of admission!) and tips for getting “more” of that topic in your life, focusing squarely on the A in MAPP (which stands for “applied”).
I am currently facilitating a discussion group on positive psychology, and I have already recommended this e-book to my group. Two of them purchased it and here is what one of them said:
I got the book in one minute. I know very little about positive psychology. A handbook will be great for me to know what it’s like.
The other commented:
Thank you very much for this. It is like you said … $3.50 and easy to read. I have read the first chapter and found it short and easy, but very, very useful.
So if you are looking for more positive psychology in your life, I highly recommend it! Even without affiliation links!! And let me know what you think!
Happy optimal functioning!
(PS. I don’t actually have a Kindle but my Android phone has a Kindle app – just something to consider if you are Kindle-less but smart-phone endowed…)
